The East European Summer School is the Centre’s oldest initiative. It was established in 1991 and started offering courses as part of a three-week international visiting scholarship programme in 1992. Each July, the Summer School offers academic sessions designed for young researchers from former Soviet republics, Central Europe, but also from Western Europe and America. Deadline – 04.03.2019
The programme consists of three main components:
1.the first takes place in the participants’ home countries in the form of preparatory meetings/webinars and/or reading of material provided by the thematic module organisers.

2.This is followed by an intense thematic two-weeks-moduleduring the period of June–August. The thematic module is held either in Sweden or one of the participant countries. NOTE: If the potential applicant has received Lithuanian state scholarships for 12 consecutive months in the period of 1st September 2018 – 1st September 2019, he/she is not eligible to apply for any Lithuanian state scholarship for 1.5 years.

The Centre for Advanced Study Sofia (CAS Sofia) announces a Call for Applications for its 2019/2020 In-Residence Advanced Academia Fellowships for fundamental research in the fields of the humanities and the social sciences.

Financial support: a monthly stipend of 700 euro; accommodation in Sofia, comprising living quarters and working space. The Fellows will also have free access to the CAS library and electronic resources/databases; travel allowance (up to 400 euro); research expenses (up to 500 Euro).
